National Award for Adullam

Adullam Homes Housing Association is proud to say it has been announced as winner in the People First category at the Homeless Link Excellence Awards 2022.

Describing Adullam’s entry, Homeless Link said: ““The judging panel awarded Adullam Homes Housing Association for their impressive co-produced approach, priorities and targets. Embedded in behaviours and cultures their work centred the voices of lived experience and diversity of service user group.”

Three representatives of the Association attended the awards ceremony, which took place as part of a Working Well event at the Museum of the Home in London.

The People First category invited entrants to demonstrate how they ensure the individuals they are supporting are at the centre of what they do.

The criteria said: “We are looking for inclusive and compassionate services and projects providing the right support to meet individuals specific, diverse needs and aspirations and improve their wellbeing and can show that this is supporting them out of homelessness.”

Adullam’s entry explained that coproduction is central to its aim of helping people gain the confidence, knowledge and skills to live independently. It went on to explain the annual Coproduction Week that Adullam runs and provided examples of actions that had resulted from the week in 2022.

As a separate part of the entry Adullam had to describe a moment that summarised the success of its People First approach. For this, a coproduction graduation ceremony organised by our project in Sheffield was used.

The entry said: “It was overall a wonderful occasion, but the moment that summarises Adullam’s coproduction work was when on receiving her certificate, one of the service users told a packed room that she had been terrified to come out at the beginning, but that she has “built it up and built it up” and her confidence has grown and her life has been changed for the better as a result of being involved in coproduction with Adullam.”

Reacting to the award success, Adullam CEO Alison Sargent said: “Our success in this category truly reflects work done throughout the whole organisation. Well done to everyone.

“Coproduction is key to ensuring we achieve our aim of “unlocking potential: transforming lives” and it is great news to have this award recognising our success in this.”

Regional Manager Jenny Morgan, Property Services and Operational Manager Dawn Thornber, and Regional HR Advisor Rehman Mazher accepted the certificate and trophy on behalf of Adullam in London.
