Co-production week underway

Co-production week underway

Today is the first day of Adullam’s national Co-production Week, designed to kick-start another year of events and activities across the association in which everyone plays a part and has a voice.

Co-production is central to Adullam’s values as an organisation; in 2020 the Association was one of three finalists in the Co-Production category of the Homeless Link Excellence awards. It is now looking forward to delivering an even wider range of activities in the next 12 months.

The week has started well, with one of the first activities already evidencing lots of involvement. The question of what is the best terminology to use for people accessing Adullam’s services has been asked. Participants are being invited to say which from a list they feel is most suitable or applicable to them and which least suitable or applicable.

The findings will inform Adullam’s use of words in everything from letters and notices to leaflets and news releases.

A new training session has been created for staff to help explain co-production and provide examples of it in practice at Adullam. Scores of staff have already taken part in one of the sessions and these will now be offered on an ongoing basis.

As well as the terminology discussions, nationally the week will also include a review of Adullam’s co-production strategy, with consultation on key themes, discussions about national and local offers and evaluation of activities and events.

Locally plans in place include estate walkabouts, laptop set-up in communal areas and resident elections.

Dave Moore, Head of Support at Adullam Homes, said: “We are committed to embedding a culture of co-production, inclusion and engagement.  Over the next few weeks, the ideas and events across the association will take hold nationally, regionally and locally.

“We are encouraging our teams to think outside the box in making engagement events and activities fun but COVID safe, of course.

“Meaningful co-production can lead to improved outcomes for individuals and services, improved customer satisfaction, improvements in processes, and increased opportunities.  We are looking forward to an action-packed week and a successful and enjoyable year to follow.”

Adullam Homes Housing Association provides specialist accommodation and services throughout the Midlands, North West, Derbyshire, Yorkshire and Wales to support more than 1,000 people at any one time.
