One of our support workers at Fleet House in Bolton received a phone call recently from a woman who said her 10-year-old daughter had saved up her pocket money and wanted to use it to help some people in the community.

She had called to ask if Fleet, Adullam’s centre for single homeless women in Bolton, will take direct donations of toiletries and food. She was told they would be gratefully received, and that she could drop them off any time.

Over the Bank Holiday weekend Adam, the support worker concerned, had a lovely surprise.

Two bags of shopping plus an accompanying letter were waiting in the office. The letter, which we assume came from the 10-year-old, explained the gift, and also included a joke.

No names were left, this was an anonymous act of kindness which Fleet House residents are very grateful for.

Thank you to the Mum and daughter responsible, the gifts and letter really did cheer everyone up.
