New home proving successful
A sense of community is being created between people who were faced with being homeless in Bolton after a new property was leased by Adullam Homes Housing to accommodate them.
The new accommodation replaces a property formerly used as Bolton Council-funded Next Step Accommodation Provision (NSAP) located within easy reach of Bolton town centre, established during the COVID pandemic as part of the ‘Everyone In’ initiative.
The new property, also located a short walk from Bolton town centre, has been refurbished to a high standard, and is now housing nine service users. Facilities include a communal kitchen, and a breakfast station is set up on site each morning so that the individuals can be sure of getting something to eat.
Acquisition of the property by Adullam means that residents have access to warm comfortable accommodation throughout the day and night and can have better enabled support on their pathway from the streets.
All referrals for places in the accommodation come via Bolton Council’s Rough Sleeping Team, who refer single people as well as couples.
Commenting on the new accommodation, Adullam’s North West and Wales Regional Manager Dawn Thornber said: “We had been looking for some time for a suitable property in which to deliver NSAP and the one we now have is ideal. The rooms have been decorated, carpeted and furnished to a high standard and everyone is very impressed.
“One of the service users has told us that it looks like a hotel but feels like home. This is exactly how we want it to feel. The residents are cooking together in the communal kitchen and are making sure they keep everywhere clean and tidy. It is proving a very successful relocation.”
Adullam Homes provides a range of supported accommodation services in Bolton, including hostel accommodation for men and women, cold weather provision, and move-on flats for those ready to live independently.
