How to apply

Completing the application form

Please read the Job Description, Person Specification, advertisement and recruitment information carefully. If you wish to apply please state which post you are applying for including the reference number.

The application form must be completed - CVs will not be accepted as an alternative.

Your application form is very important because it is the only basis on which we decide whether or not to shortlist you. Please complete all sections of the form. If you wish to add more information please do not use more than 2 sides of A4 paper.

Person specification and job description

The Person Specification and Job Description form are provided to enable you to understand the job requirements. When completing your application you must remember that the shortlisting panel will assess your application based solely on what you provide; it must, therefore, include information which gives clear evidence as to how you meet specific requirements of the job you are applying for as detailed in the role profile. You can include this information in the “how you can help” section of the application form.

If your application does not include information as to how you feel you meet the specific requirements of the job you are applying for, it is likely your application will be unsuccessful.

Remember to include all relevant experience or skills from paid employment, voluntary work, leisure interests and family life. Please say when and where your experience and knowledge was gained and the period over which you have put them into practice.

References

We require references covering the previous 3 years of your employment. Please ensure that your referee details cover this period of time. Referees will not be contacted prior to interview without your permission. Where possible, please provide email addresses for referees as this speeds up the recruitment process.

We also require enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks to be undertaken should you be offered the post.

Rehabilitation of Offenders

Under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, ex-offenders do not have to disclose spent convictions. However, certain types of posts particularly those that involve working with children or vulnerable adults, or in positions of trust or sensitive areas, are exempt from these provisions and in these cases, all convictions must be declared.

Due to the nature of the work of the Association some posts are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act. You must declare every conviction you have had even if it does not seem to be relevant or took place a long time ago. Even if you have convictions, you may still be considered for the post. Failure to reveal information relating to unspent convictions could lead to withdrawal of an offer of employment.

Please complete the “All about You” section fully on the application form. We need this information should we need to contact you.

Unless filling in your form electronically, please complete in black ink and your own handwriting. Do not display your name on any part of the form other than where requested (including signature). Do not use staples to attach additional information.
